Xerox ColorQube 8570 Solid Wax Printer Review
The new Xerox 8570 ColorQube. So what is the difference from the Phaser 8560 old Solid Ink printer? Well, in a nutshell, not a lot. As with all Xerox Phasers in the past, the ColorQube 8570 has True Adobe PostScript Level 3. So no problem connecting to Macs. It is faster, and customer feedback is that the quality is FANTASTIC. As with all new reliable wax printers from Xerox, you will not be able to use your old Phaser 8500 8560 Ink Blocks in this model. Every time Xerox launches a new printer, they change the Ink Loader. With the ColorQube 8570, the ink blocks are twice the size. So will need less replenishing of the Inks blocks. Now for all you people out there that are used to your conventional color laser printer, should you look at the Solid ink printers from Xerox? Well, in a word, YES, so why.
Let’s look at the benefits. Lightning-fast at 40 color prints per minute, The Xerox ColorQube 8570 is an environmental office printer on the market. So little waste. No toner cartridges to recycle. The only waste is the small cardboard boxes the solid wax ships in and the maintenance kit that can be returned to Xerox UK for recycling. The maintenance kits only need replacing every 10,000 prints or 30,000 prints, depending on whether you choose the standard or extended maintenance kit. With no fuser unit in the print process, you don’t have to use expensive papers to get high-quality prints. However, we recommend you don’t use a budget 80gsm paper. With the article going through at 40 copies per minute, the cheap paper will jam.
We recommend a 90gsm copier bond. Stay away from ANY paper that ships in a box of 2,500 sheets. All good quality paper should come in wrapped reams of 500 sheets. So is there any downside to this printer? Yes, the printer may be a little noisier than you used to, so it may be best to locate it away from your desk if you spend a great deal of time on the phone. It has come to our attention that the NEW Xerox ColorQube 8570 Solid Ink printer can slow down on a long print run. Xerox UK advises that this is to maintain high print quality. There is a desirable offer from Xerox running until the end of March 2011.
